Gaming

As Liberal Democrats, we support the wholesale reform of video game classification in Australia, the abolition of the Classifications Board, and its replacement with an industry-led, self-regulating ratings system.

We have no problem with age-specific recommendations, but the government has no place telling adult video gamers (the average age of a video gamer in Australia is 33, according to Digital Australia) the types of games and content they can and can’t purchase.

Change to the classification laws in Australia require the approval of all state attorneys-general, and the Liberal Democrats in WA will continue to lobby our AG to make video game censorship a thing of the past.
